What is so special about 904L steel?
Alloy 904L (UNS N08904) is a superaustenitic stainless steel that
is designed for moderate to high corrosion resistance in a wide range
of process environments. The combination of high chromium and nickel content, coupled with
additions of molybdenum and copper, assures good to excellent
corrosion resistance.

In this case, 904L stainless steel is the clear victor over 316L; with an average PREN value of 36.7, it is much stronger than 316L
